Target Group - All carers within their induction period. All other carers who need an update on law, policy and practice.

Cultural Diversity:
CULTURAL COMPETENCY TRAINING - This course is designed to support those caring for children from different backgrounds, challenging racism and implementing strategies for children and young people to deal with racism. This course will provide foster carers and Social Work staff with a sound level of understanding and ability to promote equality, diversity, and rights of individuals and groups within society.

Event Aims:

• To raise levels of knowledge, skills, awareness and confidence within the area of Integrated Impact Assessment for all Portsmouth City Council (PCC) officers and managers .
• To understand how and why an  Integrated Impact Assessment should be completed on all key PCC policies and activities to achieve our aims of promoting Equality as part of our Equality and Diversity strategy.

Who is this course for?

All staff and managers involved in preparing Integrated Impact Assessment as part of their role.

Who is running this course?

This training will be run in-house in partnership with McKenzies, who are a leading provider of Equality and Diversity Consultancy in the UK. They have a client base of over two hundred organisations across the public and private sector.

The aim of this training is to provide you with the information you need about IIAs to enable you to ask the right questions. It aims to help ensure that the needs of all parts of the community have been considered in proposals, proper consultation has taken place and that assessments are not a 'tick-box' exercise. It aims to support you to identify inequality and discrimination by using a comprehensive assessment process.

This course is for members of the Licensing Committee.

All members, however, are welcome to attend this training to enhance their knowledge about this committee.

Who is running this course?

This training will be facilitated internally by Nickii Humphreys (Licensing Manager)

NVR as an intervention for anxiety-related difficulties.

What is NVR?

NVR (Nonviolent Resistance) is widely known as an approach helpful to parents, carers and professionals when young people are acting in a violent, challenging and controlling way with high levels of risk to others and themselves.
As well as this, NVR has also been developed (pioneered by Haim Omer and Eli Lebowitz) as an approach for children and young people with wide range of anxious and avoidant patterns of behaviour, including OCD, self, harming, disordered eating and school non-attendance, which can also have a huge impact on the lives of the young people, their families and professional networks.

This event, for all new, permanent starters at PCC, forms a foundation for you as you start your employment with PCC. 

The event provides you with key information on:

• PCC as an organisation - what is important to PCC, how the council works, its policies and priorities and how it differs from other organisations
• PCC as an employer - what PCC expect from us and what we can expect from PCC in return

This will be delived as an online interactive session that encourages you to explore your experience of PCC so far and your expectations going forward and there will be plenty of opportunities for discussion and Q&A.

Please note, if you are returning to PCC after a period away, you don't need to attend the event.
