Course Delivery information
This a multi-session course of three days virtual and one day face to face.
Start times are 09:30 - 16:30 . We aim to finish at 15: 30 on day four.
Virtual breakout rooms are required during the first three days and face to face interview technique practice on day 4.
Pre course reading:
Delegates are requested to have read Chapters 2 and 3 of ABE March 2011 before they attend the course.
Course Outline:
Delegates will be learning from the ABE March 2011guidance in relation to investigative interviewing of children. They will understand the need to accuracy and effective listening skills, understand the needs of the children as victims of serious child abuse. The delegates will be able to have a good grasp of the rules around investigative interviewing and learn the techniques required to gain best evidence from a child to present to a Jury at a Crown Court Hearing. The national PEACE model will be explained and delegates are placed into a practice interview with role players to demonstrate their understanding of the model.

The First Aid at Work (FAW) course will alow delegates to act as a qualified first aider in the work place. This course will give delegates the Level 3 First at Work qualification, accredited by Qualsafe awards.
There is no need to attend Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) before attending this course. If you already hold the EFAW qualification, please contact the administrator of the course before booking.
If you are already FAW qualified and need to requalify please look for the First Aid at Work Requalification course. This is a two day course open to people who are appoaching the end of their three year FAW qualification.

MCA for Practitioner and Provider Services Part 1 / A - Awareness delivered by St Thomas Training
Delegates must attend both sessions to complete the course - please add both dates into your calendar.
Course Outline
The training is split into two sessions over consecutive days will give participants an overall understanding of how the Mental Capacity Act applies to their day-to-day work settings
Who should attend?
Social workers, care managers, independent support assistants and occupational therapists and care staff working in provider services (residential and day care) within Adult Social Care. This is specifically aimed at people who need to gain a thorough grounding in what the Act is all about. The next level MCA Part 2 "Putting into Practice "goes into more depth.
This course is a virtual course run via Zoom or Teams - joining instructions will be sent to via diary invite a week before the course date.
Please note, this course will have regular breaks for participants so please ensure you take yourself away from the screen. The course is aimed to be interactive.
